Abortion in Israel

Sadly, although Judaism can cause many good effects in the laws that are passed here in Israel, one area that is widely ignored is that of abortion.  A year ago when I did my EVP (emergency volunteer program) training we were told that abortion is not an issue here in Israel like it is in the U.S.  If this meant that abortion was not practiced, then that statement would be a good thing.  What it actually means is that almost no one thinks there is a problem with abortion.  I just learned today how bad this attitude is; apparently it is even OK for doctors to murder a child after it is fully born.  The only qualification is that the child must still be attached to the mother by the umbilical cord before it is killed.  Once the umbilical cord is cut, the child cannot be killed, but before that it does not matter what the doctors do...  Prayer is certainly needed that the people of Israel realize that this an act of murder and will do something to put a stop to it.
