Dust...

One of the things that can be a problem with deserts is dust.  Due to the dry climate the wind whips up dust into the air and there it stays until rain settles it or the air gets still enough for the dust to settle.  Normally the dust storms are problems during the summer.  It should be wet enough at this time of the year that the dust is not a problem.  However, this has been an unseasonably dry year so far.  We started getting heavy winds on Sunday, and it has taken until this afternoon for the dust to settle enough so that it no longer looks like we are in a heavy, slightly goldenrod colored, fog.
