Hamantashen

Hamantashen (or Haman's Ears) is the traditional treat to eat this time of year.  Apparently Haman was supposed to have tri-cornered ears.  If any of you would like to try this delicious treat at home, here is the recipe:

Cook time: 15 min
Yield: 15 - 25

Ingredients:
        1 cup flour
        2 tsp baking powder
        1 egg
        1/8 cup sugar
        56.5 g margarine
        2/3 tsp orange juice
        1/4 tsp vanilla
        1/4 pinch salt
        1/4 tsp orange rind

Directions:
Cream margarine and sugar. Mix in remaining ingredients. Add extra flour or juice if needed. Refrigerate. Roll out to 1/8" thick.  Cut out 2 - 3 inch circles. Put 1/2 tsp of jam in the center of circle, fold sides up to form triangle (I find it helps to moisten the inside of the corners with a little water). Pinch together and bake at 350°F.
