Nineveh & Hamas

At various times since this most recent conflict between Hamas and Israel started I've heard people say that the government should just completely level the Gaza Strip. After all, that would stop all the rocket bombardments and economic .  Ignoring the moral/ethical issues of this point of view for the moment, I want to focus on a Biblical comparison that struck me today as I was listening to an Alister Begg message on the patience of God.  Jonah was sent to Nineveh - a terrible place.  The Ninevites could probably be very easily compared to Hamas.  After all they were nasty people who practiced human sacrifice and probably pretty much anything else you can think of that would be wrong...Skip to Hamas, a terrorist organization that teaches children from the time they are born to hate the Jews.  That the Jews must be wiped from the face of the earth.  Both are enemies of Israel, yet God loved the Ninevites and wanted them to repent.  The same is true for the Arabs and Hamas.  Killing them will not solve the issue, someone else will just step in their place.  What we should do as Christians instead is pray that God would reveal Himself to them and change their hearts. Only when Jews and Arabs alike have turned to Christ will there be peace in the Middle East.
