Back at it again...
Buzzzzzzz, buuuuuzzzzzzzzz, buzzzzzz, I vaguely became aware that for some reason my phone was buzzing. That was strange because I had it on sleep mode so the only messages that were set to come through were emergency numbers. I was still so out of it at this point that my mind did not really process this info fully though. I picked up my phone and looked at the message, "an emergency alert has been issued for Jerusalem." I then become aware that a siren was going off. I am still struggling to wake up at this point but I know I should do something. I look around my room trying to figure out what that something is (I think I might have gotten up and wondered around the room a bit even). Do I need to close my window? No, wait, I need to grab my keys and my bag with my passport in it then head out to the stairway. As I head out of my room I get distracted. I hear Sara up and grabbing stuff, but nothing from Patty, so I stop to knock on her door. Nothing. At that moment Sara comes out of her room and asks if I have my keys so I turn, go to the door, and unlock it and we head out to the stairwell without neighbors. My mind is still not fully awake and about all I can do is stand there clutching my bag and fumbling with my phone trying to pull up the Jerusalem Post. I do not manage this before we hear the explosion, wait a few minutes and we all head back into our flats. Patty still hasn't shown up yet so I have this weird sleepy mind take on the time. Because I had been so soundly asleep I felt it was the wee hours of the morning, but because Patty never joined us I thought, she must not be home yet, she sometimes gets home late ( but never the wee hours of the morning). Sara then pointed out that we had both seen and talked to Patty before going to bed, so she must have just slept through it. I head back into bed and that is when I realize my fan is still running. I had set it on a two hour timer before I went to bed. I check the time and sure enough it is just before midnight.
