What do you do when summer camps are cancelled due to rocket fire?  Set up a day camp in the Parliament building and bring kids in from the south of Israel naturally.  Somehow I cannot imagine this happening in any other country of the world, but security conscious Israel has a parliament that is very open to the public, so they also had no problem bringing 500 kids up to Jerusalem for a day way in the Knesset.  Fortunately for the kids, their day was not interrupted by rocket fire here in Jerusalem.  I was fortunate enough to see some of this program in action when I visited the Knesset today with a friend.  Interestingly enough, today I learned that the Knesset is one of the most environmentally friendly, self-sufficient parliament buildings in the world. They are finishing up covering the roof in solar panels which will provide all the energy the building needs, and they have their own water recycling system.
