Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur...  a day where things really shut down, including the television.

On the Evening of Yom Kippur all traffic is halted all over the country.  Only Ambulances and police vehicles will drive on the roads.  This means it is the perfect time for kids to get on their bikes and ride in the streets and for adults to walk down the street and set up camping chair and chat with each other.  This year I had the opportunity of spending Yom Kippur outside of Jerusalem.  One of my friends had the opportunity to spend the weekend by the beach in Netanya in an apartment for free and she invited several other people to join her there.  It was a nice chance to spend time at the beach.  The weather was beautiful, and the water nice and warm.  We also discovered that Netanya has one of the nicest beaches in Israel.  The water is crystal clear when it is calm, which it was on Saturday.
